Know absolutely nothing about CNC and Engraving except for maybe the spelling - maybe.
Will be asking a lot of questions and not sure what I even dont know to ask.
Welcome to the forum, Tony! Like you, I don't yet have a 3D printer but maybe later this year. Right now I'm not sure where I would put one, to be honest.
I would like to be able to do some engraving that I now send out to be done. Nothing major. And would also like to be able to cut out some intricate parts and designs to add to my furniture or whatever without spending all day at it.
My shop is pretty full but not over crowded. I still have some actual work space. Will definitely rearrange to fit anything else in there.
check out my Sainsmart 3018-Pro. It's more of an engraver than a full mill. for $300 it's cool and it fits on one of those Walmart wooden folding TV tables.
It has metal leadscrews on all three axes. It comes with estop and limit switches as well as an automatic zero probe.
It uses GRBL which is a subset of g-code (which is ultimately what most all CNC's understand). Machines that use MACH3/4 controllers understand the full (or at least more) g-code -- and cost correspondingly more.
