I got the cutter, the freezer under it which is modified for cooling not freezing. It has a big bucket inside for the water, and a pump for circulating. Also got the air vent setup you see along side the pile. That was back in Feb. Due to other thingsin Life, I still did not get it fired up.

But here is some examples that cam with it to show what it can do.

Engraving in wood

Cutouts in plastic.

Engraving, and cutting on plastic

I will have to get more pics, It has super fine cutting capabilities in plastic. I think it will be great for switch panels, and gauge panels. With a wider engraving, you can label the switches, and run a light to make them light up at night.

Wow...for FREE

Those plastic cut-outs look neat...and that "control panel" in that video looks brilliant, simple but effective.

Yea, I like that guys setup. I want to do most of the same to mine. Now that I made some room in the garage, I will work on getting fired up.

The guy was moving to Wisconsin, and did not want to take it with.He also had two 3d printers, so I think he graduated from cutting to printing. So to say.

I watch the Craigs list free listing quite a bit. I usually get a reply like "You were the second to reply, I will let you know if the first responder does not take it." Or just no reply at all.

Excellent deal! The K40 is a great way to get started with CO2 lasers! I have had one for 2 years now, however it doesn't get used as much now that we have a larger 60w. I have been thinking about modifying the K40 so it will run a rotary as well as adding a Lightburn compatible board.

Mine came with the small freezer, and a 10 gal or so bucket for the water. Since my space is very limited, I am looking at putting the cooler outside, and running the lines through the wall. I have the means to keep the cooler from freezing in the winter, but would still like the extra insurance of running an antifreeze.

I have heard that any antifreeze does not work as well, so if it is a problem, my second thought is to use antifreeze in the bucket, and a metal heat exchanger with the distiled water run inside that will do the cooling.

Honestly, for a K40, you do not need a lot. As I said, did a simple bucket with the aquarium water pump in it for cooling. We have ran quite a bit through the machine, and it has never overheated. Once you start getting over 50watts is when you really need to invest in something more complex.
